You know when the whole ‘Ashy Bines’ thing started and it bought clean eating to a very public eye and everyone was all of sudden giving it a go? Well I tried too. Sort of failed and then I was sick of seeing Ashy’s face and name plastered everywhere so I decided that clean eating was just this fad thing and it was completely restrictive, like I had to live off celery and carrot sticks.
I was pretty wrong and it took me a while to get back into it and now it’s one of the easiest things I do in my life.
Basically, clean eating is about eating foods in their most natural state. This means steering clear of highly processed foods that contain a load of preservations, sugars, bad fats and those six-syllable chemicals that no one can really pronounce the name of.
I’m going to say those dreaded words – it’s not a diet, it’s a lifestyle. I can already see your eyes rolling and I was the same but it’s completely true. It becomes part of your everyday life because in a nutshell clean eating is so beneficial for your health and wellbeing. It helps you lose weight, gives you more energy, helps with sleep, improves cholesterol and in general just makes you feel a whole lot better.
Since I have been on the clean eating bandwagon I have lost 11kg, 6% of body fat and a lot of centimeters. It works and I feel so much better for it.
Last year when I was watching My Kitchen Rules I realized I kept watching it to see what the Bondi boys pair Luke & Scott were cooking up. They are personal trainers and paleo eaters and I became so interested in everything they were making. So when I came across their Clean Living Cookbook last week I HAD to get it! Then I became obsessed. I started following them on facebook and instagram and they are in the recent search history on my phone, my work computer and my laptop at home. Seriously. Stalker much? But I just loved everything they stand for and the recipes in this cook book are just amazing. I can’t wait to make everything in the book.
Their simple guide to clean living is somewhat enviable and I'm such a fan. I would definitely recommend that everyone buys this cookbook. It's the best one I own!
Eating clean is really simple and you will be surprised at what you can make with a few simple clean ingredients. I love a salmon and prawns with zucchini pasta and my all time favourite dessert – a caramel and chocolate mousse cake. AHHHHMAZING!!
It’s a little bit of trial and error and I actually really enjoy playing around with flavours and recipes to come up with something great. I am going to start posting meal ideas and recipes for those who think clean eating is boring and too hard. I guarantee if you give it a go you will be hooked too!
