Those 'I feel fat' days
We’ve all had that horrible ‘fat day’. You wake up and feel... well, fat! You know the ones where you want to crawl back into bed and curl up under the covers; they make you re-think your outfit choices so you have something a little flowy over the stomach, you feel gross and you probably end up being a little moody. Yep, we have all had those!
I will occasionally have those days where I wake up and feel like big giant blob. I feel bloated and gross and it doesn’t matter what the scale says or what my friends say I just feel like a big giant blob. Even though in reality I don’t look like that at all.
Fat days are literally a mental thing. It’s some kind of irrational feeling that goes on in our head that makes us view ourselves differently. You ‘feel’ like you have gained about 5kg overnight but to everyone else you still look exactly the same. Your stomach isn’t really that bloated and you don’t look like a hot mess. I find sometimes I ‘feel’ fat because I ate something a little naughty the night before but I’m actually the exact same weight as I was yesterday when I felt skinnier.
So why do you feel fat? Ate something bad? Stressed out? Haven’t exercised in a little while? Whatever it is just let it go. It’s just a feeling that can easily be replaced by the ‘I feel skinny’ feeling.
So how do you get that ‘I feel skinny’ feeling?
FOCUS ON THE POSITIVES – Flaunt something that is great about yourself. Have good legs? Show them off! Wear a happy outfit that makes you feel great. On some not so great days I love to wear a bright lipstick and it can easily put me in a great mood for the day. When you feel good about something you look good and people really notice that. They won’t be looking at your bloated stomach when they are too busy checking out your legs!
FIND OUT WHY YOU FEEL THIS WAY – Are you having the fat day because you ate pizza the night before? Do you have fat days every time you eat pizza? It’s probably a good idea you steer clear of pizza then. Are you stressed? Find something you love doing that will help relieve stress, maybe a massage or a relaxing bath.
STAY HYDRATED – No girl like to bloat or guy for that matter. We just don’t like it. Easy solution – Drink water by the plenty! Water with lemon, green tea, peppermint tea they are all great for settling the stomach and help with bloating.
GET ACTIVE – I seriously feel so much better after a workout or even a run or walk. I feel like I have got skinnier in that hour even though I haven’t. You know how you start on a new exercise regime and after the first session you look in the mirror because you swear you feel so much leaner, your stomach is flatter, your arms are better and those squats really made your bum look so great. Really, you don’t look any different to when you started that workout (except you’re probably a lot sweatier). See it’s a mental thing. Getting active really helps because it raises your endorphins and you just feel a lot happier.
EAT SOMETHING HEALHY – If you’re already feeling fat why would you go and eat more fatty food? That’s not going to help the situation. Especially if you keep doing it and then those fat days become more frequent because you really are putting on weight. Eat a chicken salad or some fruit, it doesn’t have to be boring, just make it healthy!
JUST MOVE ON – Seriously. Probably the most important part is to just move on. So you have one fat day. It happens to everyone. Tomorrow will probably be a whole lot different. It’s just a mental thing so change your attitude and those fat days become fewer and fewer!
Those are such amazing tips on how to get over those "days." I firmly believe mentality governs even the most stubborn aspects of the human physicality. Those tips outline the perfect way to achieve just that. I only hope that more people would be able to come by this post. Cheers and more power to you!
