Not reaching your goals? Here's why...

Are you doing some really great workouts and eating really healthy but just not seeing the results you were expecting? Hitting a plateau that you just can’t shake?

Consistency is key in constantly making improvements. There are a lot of common mistakes people make that can prevent you from reaching your goals.

Doing the same workout routine – As you get used to a type of exercise, it becomes less challenging and, as a result, less effective so mix it up and shock your body. This will work different muscles and give you the change you need.

Self sabotage – Nobody is perfect but giving yourself a hard time is adding unnecessary stress to your body which will never help with weight loss. So you ate something bad one day? That is not justification to make the day a write off or to think you will start next Monday.

Skipping meals – One of the worst things you can do. It will slow your metabolism and cause you to store fat. Eat a mix of protein, good fat and good carbs for energy. Eat every 2-3 hours and make sure you have portion control.

Avoiding carbs – Your muscles need fuel for recovery and good carbs are the perfect fuel. Try sweet potato, oats and brown rice. Avoid all processed foods like white bread and baked goods.

Not drinking enough water – Our bodies need to be hydrated especially if you are exercising more. It flushes out your system and keeps your body feeling better. Drink atleast 2L a day!!

Miracle diets – There is no quick fix. No diet pill that promises you to lose 5kg in a week is going to work. It will cause you to gain weight quickly once you stop taking it, not to mention the horrible effects it has on your body.

Over training – Training seven days a week is not going to get you to where you need to be. 4-5 workouts a week is enough to help you lose weight and keep your body looking toned and fit. We need rest for our bodies to recover and store muscles.

Avoiding weight training – Girls you aren’t going to get big from weight training. I promise. We just don’t have the testosterone in us for us to look manly. Weight training is vital in burning fat and turning that fat into lean muscle.

Binging – those binges on the weekend are ruining all the hard work you just did at the gym that week and all that clean eating. Keep it to a once a week treat meal if you feel like something naughty
